KICKING OFF A NEW BATCH!

No fancy-schmansy introduction this go around, just hopping right in! You guys really have no idea how much forcing myself to write on this blog regularly for six years turned me off to ever writing regularly again. I just don't think I have it in me anymore, but who knows - maybe one day the spark will return. For now, I'll be presenting fifteen more inclusions to my own, personal 1,000 favorites list, using mostly pictures to let the film speak for itself. I'll probably include a sentence or two as well, just so I don't feel completely lazy.

Kicking it off with the least favorite of my new inclusions - The Cable Guy. Just because it's the least favorite, however, doesn't mean it's not deserving of it's place. I've ALWAYS been a big Jim Carrey fan and I knew that I HAD to include one of his classic comedies on my list - especially if this list is to convey what I like and what movies made up the evolution of my love of film. I can remember Carrey being a big deal when I was growing up and all of his movies being box office successes. Sure I can find guilty pleasure in some of his lesser praised works, such as, Ace Venture: Pet Detective, Dumb and Dumber and The Mask, but I've always found The Cable Guy to be one of his lesser appreciated ones that was also a genuinely quality film. A black comedy from Ben Stiller's helm, The Cable Guy is packed with laughs and one of those ones that I think I could throw on and enjoy anytime.

RATING: 7.5/10

  1. You know, I thought I had seen this, but non of the pictures rang any bells..
    Pause.

OK, I should have done that first .. go to iCM and look.
No, I can confirm yet another I've not seen! Sorry.
But I'm afraid I doubt I will.. I'm really not that keen on Jim carrey in his manic persona.. (Bit like Robin Williams trying to go zany)
So count these comments as just a way of letting you know I'm still looking and reading ..

    1. I've always enjoyed Jim Carrey, maybe because I was growing up when his career was taking off and his movies were always big deals when I was a kid. I too dislike Robin Williams though, I will say that.

I think Carrey can do drama a lot better to. Even when Williams does do drama, there seems to still be a splash of that comedian in there, dying to get out.
